MAT Open House

Two Sessions: Noon-2 pm and 2-4 pm at the American Museum of Natural History, New York City - Astor Turret, 4th Floor. Please check in at the West 77th Street Entrance between Columbus and Central Park West

Attention Earth science grads:

Change lives. Teach science. That is the call of action for the Museum’s new Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program, the first urban teacher residency program offered by a museum.

On Sunday, January 6, from Noon to 2 pm or 2 pm to 4 pm, we invite you to an Open House to meet faculty and staff, find out more about how our pioneering MAT program is structured, and go on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum campus. Prospective students, friends and family, and others interested in learning more about this program are welcome.

The MAT program is a full-time, paid Master’s program with science and pedagogy coursework and real-world teaching experience. We seek a student body with diverse life and career experiences, such as recent college graduates, veterans, former participants in volunteer corps, and career changers. The program is open to college graduates with a bachelor’s degree in Earth science or a related discipline or any bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 24 credits in Earth science plus 6 additional credits in physics, chemistry, environmental science, or biology.

Guests will have the opportunity to hear from program faculty and staff, have questions answered, and go on a behind-the-scenes tour of Museum facilities.

Join the MAT mailing list to receive updates.
