A large real-time video interactive projection artwork by artist Camille
Utterback, specially created for The Genomic Revolution.
Camille Utterback
Camille Utterback is a pioneering artist and programmer in the field of
interactive installation. Her work has been exhibited internationally at
festivals and galleries including New Langton Arts Gallery, San Francisco;
Postmasters Gallery, New York; The NTT InterCommunication Center, Tokyo;
the Ars Electronica Center, Austria; The Seoul Metropolitan Museum of Art;
The Netherlands Institute for Media Art; and SIGGRAPH Art Gallery 2000.
Prizes include a 'Silver' NewMedia Invision Award (1999), the OLB Media Art
prize at the European Media Art Festival (2000), and "artist pick of the
year" by Res Magazine for their "Annual Res 10—Ten people who are making
a difference in their field" (2000). Utterback's "Text Rain" installation,
created with Romy Achituv, has been purchased and installed in the homes of
collectors Ken Freed (Boston, MA) and Steve Wilson and Laura Lee Brown
(Louisville, KY). Utterback recently founded 'Creative Nerve, Inc.' to
develop robust, engaging installations for commercial and museum settings.
In addition to her piece for The American Museum of Natural History,
Camille has developed installations for Herman Miller and Shiseido, and is
working on a number of upcoming projects. Utterback holds a BA in Art from
Williams College, and a Masters degree from The Interactive
Telecommunications Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. In addition
to her artistic and commercial work, Utterback also teaches as an adjunct
professor at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU.
