For Hindus, God in an absolute state is neither male nor female, but the combination of all opposites. Water and fire, for example, balance each other as complementary elements. Some Hindus may regard a Goddess as their primary deity, while others may honor devotees of a God, knowing that the feminine is equally important. Allegiance to one does not deny the recognition of the other Gods and Goddesses.
