Twenty-three-year old Sanjay Patel is a supervisor at Patel Brothers, a supermarket in Nassau County, Long Island. He arrived from India eight months ago.

"Back home my puja was more elaborate, for at least one hour every morning. I had many of my relatives, my mother, my father, along with me. And offerings to the God-baked sweets and all that. Fruits and all that. Here, I pray for about five minutes every morning at a shrine in the office. I don't have the time, because of work. Now I'm worshipping God on more of a spiritual level. So my worship is different and the same. I have to do it on my own, my own way."
