Mars Moon
Watch for the two moons of Mars, Phobos (larger) and Deimos (smaller), in this view of the red planet rotating on its axis. One rotation--a Martian day--takes 24 hours and 40 minutes. More than a dozen missions have gone to Mars: unmanned spacecraft that have flown by, orbited and even landed on the red planet. Data from these spacecraft allow us to image our close neighbor in tremendous detail.
