King Penguins

Part of Hall of Birds of the World.

The diorama with king penguins in the Museum's Birds of the World Exhibition showing a group of penguins and a landscape of mountains and coastline in the background.

The King Penguin, second largest in its family, congregates on South Georgia, an island in the south Atlantic near Antarctica.

To protect their eggs and small chicks from the cold, King Penguin parents carry them on their feet. Females and males take turns watching over the eggs and hatchlings.
