The Exosuit

The Exosuit atmospheric diving system (ADS) is the newest generation tool for ocean exploration, enabling scientists to study marine life at depths of up to 1,000 feet (305 meters).

Used in tandem with the Exosuit, the ROV and high-resolution, low-light underwater cameras will help researchers capture images of marine biodiversity.

Researchers from the Museum, CUNY, and the Pierce Laboratory-Yale University are collaborating with J.F. White Contracting Company to develop scientific applications for the Exosuit.

The temporary display of the Exosuit will culminate on March 5 with the SciCafe Into the Abyss: New Frontiers in Deep Sea Exploration featuring Curator John Sparks, Research Associate David Gruber (CUNY), and Research Associate Vincent Pieribone (The Pierce Laboratory-Yale). The program is free and open to the public.
