Functions of Feathers

Feathers serve many purposes, only one of which is flight. Examine their contours along with down feathers, semiplumes, and bristles.

This classroom activity includes:

  • A step-by-step lesson plan, in which students research feathers and their functions and then hypothesize about feathered dinosaurs
  • A reproducible worksheet for students that provides an overview of the functions of feathers
