Google Glass With Aki Watanabe: Fossil Prep Lab

Education posts

Aki Watanabe, a student in the comparative biology doctoral program at the Museum's Richard Gilder Graduate School, was recently chosen as a beta-tester for Google Glass.

Here, Aki gives his Glass to Museum fossil preparator Ana Balcarcel. When fossils arrive from the field, they are encased in plaster jackets and the rock, or matrix, that was deposited around them in the ground. In this video, Balcarcel shows how preparators carefully restore these rare bones and teeth back to their original state.

For more about the prep lab, check out this Dinosaurs Explained video with preparator Justy Alicea. For more Google Glass videos, see this post.
