2016 Top 5: AMNH Facebook Live

News posts

This year, we were happy to bring you a new way to see the Museum with Facebook Live. In these live videos, you can meet our researchers, tour rarely seen collections, and experience the Museum’s halls in amazing new ways.

To close out 2016, we picked five of our most-viewed Facebook Live videos, which let you come face-to-face with The Titanosaur, go behind the scenes of StarTalk with Neil deGrasse Tyson, and much more.

And if you want to see new live broadcasts from the Museum every week, make sure you visit and like our Facebook page.

Cleaning the Squid and the Whale

The Milstein Hall of Ocean Life’s diorama of a sperm whale and a giant squid locked in combat got a cleaning during #CephalopodWeek in June.

Behind the Scenes at StarTalk

Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium Neil deGrasse Tyson and his crew took us on a tour of the set of StarTalk.

Meet the Giant Squid

More giant squid? Our Facebook friends said, yes, please! Curator Mark Siddall showed off the Museum’s specimen and fielded questions about this spectacular cephalopod.

Face to Face With The Titanosaur

Gaze into the enormous eye of the Museum’s newest icon. This 122-foot-long fossil cast re-creates one of the largest dinosaurs ever discovered.

The Whale Wash

Another day, another whale cleaning. This time, we took viewers on a ridealong in an electric lift to see what it takes to keep the Museum's blue whale model tidy.
