Ask a Paleontologist: How Long Did Dinosaurs Live?

video series on amnh.tv delves into the topic of dinosaurs, which arose some 230 million years ago and thrived until large dinosaurs became extinct about 65 million years ago. 

In the video below, Mark A. Norell, chair of the Division of Paleontology at the American Museum in Natural History, addresses the question: How long were dinosaurs' lifespans? As Norell explains, researchers know the most about the lifespans of Tyrannosaurus rex, probably the best-studied of the dinosaurs.
