LeFrak Class of the Month Essay Contest - Life at the Limits: Stories of Amazing Species Sample Winning Essays
The LeFrak Class of the Month Essay Contest invited New York City students in grades K-8 to submit essays about their Museum visit to the LeFrak Family Gallery, where they experienced the temporary exhibition Life at the Limits: Stories of Amazing Species.
This non-fiction reading and writing opportunity asked students to think critically about what they learned from their visit to the exhibition, and provided teachers with the opportunity to align a Museum learning experience with Common Core State Standards in ELA for Reading and Writing Informational Texts.
A Class from the following school submitted the winning essays. We received essays from every student in the class. Below is a sampling from the wonderful work of those students.
Samples of student work from Janet Sanchez's kindergarten class at PS 121 Throop.
Samples of student work from Elizabeth Pena's and and Melissa Murphy's 5th grade classes at PS 9 Sarah Anderson School.
Samples of student work from Ed Goodall's and and Carolyn Chica's 5th grade classes at the Hewitt School.
