LeFrak Class of the Month Essay Contest - Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of Dinosaurs Sample Winning Essays
The LeFrak Class of the Month Essay Contest invited New York City students in grades K-8 to submit essays about their Museum visit to the LeFrak Family Gallery, where they experienced the temporary exhibition Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of Dinosaurs.
This non-fiction reading and writing opportunity asked students to think critically about what they learned from their visit to the exhibition, and provided teachers with the opportunity to align a Museum learning experience with Common Core State Standards in ELA for Reading and Writing Informational Texts.
A Class from the following school submitted the winning essays. We received essays from every student in the class. Below is a sampling from the wonderful work of those students.
Samples of student work from Mary Lee's seventh grade class at St. Clare School.
Samples of student work from Melissa Murphy's and Elizabeth Peña's fifth grade classes.
Samples of student work from Laura Devlin's fifth grade class.
Samples of student work from Jennifer Kneeland's second grade classes.
