LeFrak Class of the Month Essay Contest - Whales: Giants of the Deep Sample Winning Essays
The LeFrak Class of the Month Essay Contest invited New York City students in grades K-8 to submit essays about their Museum visit to the LeFrak Family Gallery, where they experienced the temporary exhibition Whales: Giants of the Deep.
This non-fiction reading and writing opportunity asked students to think critically about what they learned from their visit to the exhibition, and provided teachers with the opportunity to align a Museum learning experience with Common Core State Standards in ELA for Reading and Writing Informational Texts.
Classes from the following school submitted the winning essays. We received essays from every student in the class. Below is a sampling from the wonderful work of those students.
Samples of student work from Laura Devlin's and Joann Krudis' fifth grade class at P.S. 056 Harry Eichler.
