In Caving for Cures, scientists are seeking biologically active molecules in cave-dwelling microorganisms that may be able to be harnessed for disease treatments.
This feature can be used to illustrate the process of science. It shows scientists searching for samples of microorganisms in caves that may employ antimicrobial compounds, then analyzing their metabo which are good candidates for new drugs. (Read more about The Scientific Process.)
This Classroom Discussion Activity can be used to connect your students to the process of science, highlight overarching scientific themes, and enhance comprehension of the story.
