In Seeking Spiders: Biodiversity on a Different Scale, a scientist sets out to discover new species of goblin spiders in the forests of Ecuador.

This feature can be used to illustrate the process of science. It shows a scientist collecting spider specimens in the field, and then identifying which ones are new species, in order to complete the family tree of goblin spiders, and better understand more about biodiversity and the natural world. (Read more about The Scientific Process.)

This Classroom Discussion Activity can be used to connect your students to the process of science, highlight overarching scientific themes, and enhance comprehension of the story.
