Enchanted Book Interactive
by AMNH on
Page through an interactive “enchanted” book that resembles an ancient botanical volume and watch animations of well-known poisonous plant species, including belladonna and monkshood, “magically” appear with each turn of the page. Explore the origin myths of these poisons and annotations explaining how these plants were used in the past. Based loosely on Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks and Dioscorides’ De Materia Medica, this interactive book also highlights each plant, where it is found, and the effects of its poison.
Illustrations are media-projected onto large book pages, and touch sensors are embedded at various locations beneath pages. As users touch sensors, or turn book pages, a new projection or animation (with accompanying soundscape) is triggered.
