The Museum welcomes corporate and individual patrons, government agencies, and eligible not-for-profit institutions. Hosting events at the Museum supports science and education programs.

What is the maximum capacity of the Museum for an event?

The Museum can accommodate 3,000+ for a reception.

Yes, CxRA is our in-house caterer.


Event Details

What unique features of the Museum can be combined with a reception, dinner, or meeting?

To make your event extra special, add a private tour of one of the Museum halls or special exhibitions; arrange an exclusive film screening in the LeFrak Theater or a viewing of the Space Show in the Hayden Planetarium; or use the one-of-a-kind resources of the Museum Shop for your centerpieces and party favors.


Lighting, Designer, Entertainment, Decor

Can I rearrange any of the exhibits for my event?

No, the exhibits cannot be moved or altered in any way for private events.

Does the Museum have an approved list of lighting, floral, or event designers?

You may bring in any vendor for your event; however, proposals must be submitted for approval prior to the event.


Sustainability Practices

What are the Museum's sustainability and green practices?

The Museum requires uses of free-range, fair trade, cage-free, local farm, and sustainable seafood products in cuisine that earns rave reviews from our guests. Our energy saving, waste reduction, and recycling practices merit the coveted 3 stars from the Green Restaurant Association.

Is there parking available to guests for private events?

Yes, there is a visitor parking garage available for events. It is located on West 81st Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. Valet parking can also be arranged.
