The Museum's after-hours SciCafe series kicked off its 2013 season with a conversation on the science and ethics of de-extinction technologies. Ross MacPhee, a mammalogist and curator in the Museum's Division of Vertebrate Zoology, discussed the amazing but controversial scientific advances that may help to bring about the return of the wooly mammoth, passenger pigeon, and other extinct species.

If you missed the event, you can watch Dr. MacPhee's thought-provoking discussion in this video.

Join us at the Museum for the next SciCafe offering on Wednesday, November 6 at 7 pm. Evolutionary biologist Daniel Lieberman will examine the major evolutionary transformations that have shaped the human body since we diverged from the apes, and how our bodies have further evolved and changed—for the better and the worse—since the Agricultural and Industrial Revolutions. The SciCafe series is proudly sponsored by Judy and Josh Weston.
