Urban agriculture is booming in New York City, with a whopping 700 food-producing urban farms and gardens citywide. Starting next Monday, July 29, visitors to Our Global Kitchen: Food, Nature, Culture, can taste foods made from five of these NYC gardens and farms.
Each day next week, a farm from one of the five boroughs will serve tasty snacks, from corn salad to garlic-mustard pesto, in the exhibition’s working kitchen.
FIVE BOROUGH TASTING SCHEDULE:
Monday, July 29 Bronx—Food Under Your Feet (in partnership with SAVE Farms) will show visitors how to find edible foods in the wild.

Tuesday, July 30 Queens—Taste fresh salad from one of Brooklyn Grange's two rooftop gardens!
Tasting: Fresh Queens salad
Wednesday, July 31 Brooklyn—Gotham Greens, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, is partnering with Whole Foods to create the nation’s first commercial scale greenhouse farm integrated in a retail grocery space for the new Whole Foods store in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
Tasting: Fresh Brooklyn salad
Thursday, August 1 Manhattan—Harlem Seeds teaches children that it is possible to grow fresh food in Harlem and the joys of healthy cooking.
Tasting: Fresh corn salad
Friday, August 2 Staten Island—Heritage Farm, at Snug Harbor Cultural Center increases awareness about the importance of eating locally.
