About The Festival
The Margaret Mead Film Festival, the preeminent showcase for contemporary cultural storytelling, will screen an outstanding lineup of international documentary films October 17-20.
The 2013 Margaret Mead Film Festival will present 36 outstanding films culled from hundreds of submissions. Featuring a broad spectrum of creative storytelling—including indigenous community media, performances, and multi-media events—the Mead Film Festival celebrates the diversity of peoples and cultures from around the world and offers intimate forums for discussion with filmmakers, film subjects, and world-renowned scholars.
The festival theme this year is “See for Yourself,” reflecting a focus on how we see ourselves in other people and cultures as audiences are asked to reflect on ways of seeing—on how we perceive visual culture and how our identities shape how we look and what we see.
Inspired by the immersive, transporting power of film and the Museum’s exhibitions and programs, the Mead Festival will also feature live performances and participatory conversations for a uniquely contemporary experience.
Tickets will be on sale soon. Click here to visit the 2013 Mead Festival website.
