Common Core Literacy and Museum Learning Experiences: Dark Universe

In this one day workshop, teachers will explore ways to use the Educator’s Guide for the new Space Show, Dark Universe. This exciting new show explores dramatic advances in our knowledge of the universe and what’s to come in the future of cosmology. Participants will visit the exhibit to make curriculum connections and use AMNH resources to strengthen their abilities to teach in the Museum. Conversations with colleagues will help teachers work on differentiating lessons for their students. Teachers will receive copies of a new Educator’s Guide as well as digital and print resources. This workshop addresses Common Core state standards in English Language Arts for non-fiction reading.
This workshop is for 6th-12th grade teachers.

Participants will have the opportunity to choose from a range of breakout sessions that will utilize the Museum’s digital, print, and exhibition resources to connect with the science curriculum in ways that are engaging for students.
