Designing a Museum Learning Experience for Our Global Kitchen: Food, Culture and Nature

The Museum’s latest special exhibition, Our Global Kitchen: Food, Culture and Nature presents health, cultural, biological, and environmental impact issues related to eating and producing food. During this workshop for K-5 educators, teachers will engage in pre-, during, and post-visit activities to learn how to prepare students for a Museum learning experience related to this hall. Participants will explore the essential questions addressed by the exhibit, look at some of the research on how students learn these concepts, and work with Educator’s Guide activities for the grade level they teach.  Conversations with colleagues will help teachers work on differentiating lessons for their students. Teachers will receive copies of the Educator’s Guide for this exhibit as well as digital and print resources. This workshop addresses Common Core state standards in in English Language Arts for non-fiction reading.

 

This workshop is for teachers of grades K-5.
