Do you have a child interested in exploring science in one of the greatest scientific institutions in the world? The American Museum of Natural History is seeking aspiring young scientists to take part in our NEW middle school program, SCIENCE ALLIANCE! Members of Science Alliance immerse themselves in science every week, studying a wide variety of topics including but not limited to anthropology, astrophysics and biodiversity. Exploring parts of the Museum that most visitors never see, our student team goes behind the scenes to meet scientists and learn about their research. Participating in Science Alliance allows students to gain exposure to museum artifacts and specimens, conduct investigations and study different scientific fields. Most importantly, students become a part of a like-minded group of individuals who share a common curiosity about the scientific world.
Science Alliance engages parents by inviting them to participate in unique Parent University Workshops. Offered on a trimester basis, these workshops, led by Science Alliance instructors, allow parents to gain a glimpse of the scientific content and activities their children experience in class.
Once your child has been accepted into Science Alliance, they will have the opportunity to re-enroll for up to 3 years. Upon completion of Science Alliance, participants can continue their science learning by applying to many of the Museum's outstanding high school offerings.
Please Note: We are no longer receiving applications for the 2013-2014 school year.
Please note: There is a universal application for all middle school programming. When completing the application, please be sure to indicate whether you would like to apply to Science Alliance or the Lang Science Program.
YOU MAY ONLY APPLY TO ONE PROGRAM!
Please email us at ScienceAlliance@amnh.org, or call 212-769-5982 if you have any questions about the program or application process.
Support for Science Alliance is provided by the Louis and Virginia Clemente Foundation.
