Introduction to Archaeology - Exploratory Course

Through May 31, 2013

What-s-the-Big-Idea-About-Archaeology

Whips, fedora hats, guns, and Kung Fu skills are often associated with the exciting profession of archaeology, but this portrayal is far from accurate. In this course, students will learn what archaeology really means and how it shapes our past, present, and future.  Each week will be devoted to a different aspect of archaeology, including field methods and analysis, the sub-disciplines of archaeology, archaeology and museums, and archaeology in the movies. Students will participate in several in-class hands-on projects so that they will have a better understanding of the concepts and practices behind archaeology.
