More importantly, did you know that all of these examples can only be understood at the microscopic level. The microbes among us, and within us, form a lively and dynamic world that influences our health and biology in many ways. Come with us as we journey into this tiny world and uncover millions of microbial mysteries.
This new program, the MicroMuseum, will teach you to understand life at the microscopic level and how it affects humans, animals, plants and minerals at our macro-level. You will learn how to use this information to develop a prototype of a mobile gaming experience that uses the Museum’s exhibit halls to help Museum visitors view the world in a new way.Over the course of the program you will collaborate with AMNH microbial curator Susan Perkins and educational app developers, Rev-, to create the game prototype, designed to encourage its players to look for things that exist and operate at a microscale while developing an understanding of their ecological role across scale.
This free program will run Tuesdays and Wednesdays in April and May from 4:30 - 6:30. During the NYC DOE spring break, the regular days and times will be replaced with two day-long sessions on Wed and Thur, April 16th and 17th. The first session will be held April 1st and it will conclude on May 28th.
