After earning a bachelor's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master's from California State University of Pennsylvania, Caren Falascino has taught in the public school system for the past 19 years.

She loves making the connection between classroom activities and the outside world, which is the premise of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, which she has been involved with since 1997. The IB Program is an international program that focuses on high standards with an international focus and molds students into lifelong learners. The program has provided the opportunity to travel to many exciting places and to network with many of her colleagues from throughout the world. She currently teaches International Baccalaureate (IB) Science to seventh graders in her suburban school south of Pittsburgh. Caren has been an IB trainer for the past four years and is currently the Middle Years Curriculum Leader for science.

She has also enjoyed teaching a graduate level science methodology class at the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, Caren has served on the advisory committee and as a field test teacher for the Smithsonian Institute (Science and Technology Concepts for Middle School, Light).

Sports are important to Caren (GO STEELERS!), as is spending time with her family. Her husband is also a teacher and she has two teenage sons. The newest addition to her family is her puppy, Yoda Kramer Falascino.
