Diane Hingray

Born in Chicoutimi, Québec. Studied in different schools systems (France, North Africa, Québec) Worked as a nursing attendant for the Chicoutimi hospital in 1975. Obtained her bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Ottawa in 1978 with a specialization in physiology, and a teaching certificate from the Université du Québec à Hull in 1984.

Began teaching when at the age of 19 in Chicoutimi, and afterwards worked as a substitute teacher for the Papineau and Seigneurie school boards in Quebec until 1987, then as a full-time teacher for the Aylmer and Portages school boards from 1987 to date. Prepared and implemented an in-school recycling program in 1990 while teaching ecology , helped students participate in science conferences between 1998 and 2000. Planned, implemented and applied a biology program that caters to the specific curriculum of the International Baccalaureate Organization (biologie 452) in addition to the regular Human Biology course.

Coordinated two exchange trips with students in Vernon, France, and helped students prepare for science fairs from 1990 to 1996. Prepared and presented workshops on "concepts teaching using flow charts" from 1992 to 1995. Prepared and presented workshops on science teaching for the International Baccalaureate Organization from 2004 to date.

Other extracurricular activities include women's Volley-Ball coaching at Grande-Rivière High-School for four years and participation in the High-School choir for a number of years. Married with three children that are no longer children, enjoy cooking, travelling, gardening, reading specially science-fiction books.
