Seminars on Science courses are fully online: there are no physical meetings.Furthermore, the courses are "asynchronous", which means that there is no specific time that you need to log in to the course to view lectures or other course materials.You can view course resources whenever is convenient for you, wherever you have an internet connection. You are only required to submit assignments and discussion responses according to the respective due dates.

There are three types of graded items in your Seminars on Science course: discussions (40% of your final grade), assignments (30% of your final grade), and the final project (30% of your final grade).After the initial grading, assignments and the final project can be revised and resubmitted for a higher grade.Late assignments will have an automatic 10% deduction applied.Discussions cannot be made up, so participating during their two week period is very important. 

There are 2 ways to view your grades and feedback: individually, or as a list of all grades.To view an individual grade: click the Assignment link in the ‘drawer’ on the right side of the screen. Then click on the name of the Assignment/Discussion/Final Project. Here, you can see the overall grade, the rubric values used to assign the overall grade, and the feedback.To view a list of all grades: click on your name in the upper right corner of the screen and select ‘Grades’ from the drop down menu. From here, click on the course title. This will display a list of all of your current grades in the course, with their corresponding feedback.Please note that the category grades and the overall course grade that are listed here, are calculated based on the grades that are already assigned, and do not take into account grades that have not been entered.

Yes, you will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of this course. This certificate will include your overall assignment, discussion, and final project grades as well as your overall grade. These grades will be: Exceeds Expectations, Meets Expectations, Approaches Expectation, or Does Not Meet Expectations

You can register for graduate credit through our partner universities. You can see a list of our partners here.The process of registering for graduate credit is a little different for each school, but generally, you would register for the course with us, then register with the partner university, and take care of the additional fees associated with the graduate credit registration (to the school and/or us, AMNH). Once you've chosen a school, please read over their procedure carefully, and feel free to contact us or the university if you have any questions.Please note that the processes and deadlines differ greatly between universities, and also depending on if you will register as a non-degree or degree student with the university. Make sure that you fully understand the graduate credit registration process before you enroll through us (AMNH), and before the session starts. The cost of graduate credit depends on the tuition at the school, and you can find the cost at each school, using the link above.

3. Click on your name in the upper right corner, select 'Profile' from the drop down menu
4. Once on your profile, find the link 'My Certificates' under the Miscellaneous header.
5. Click on the downward pointing arrow on the right to download your certificate. 

In instances where there is no certificate present, students will have to retake the quiz. It is a 15 question quiz of which 12 must be answered correctly to pass. The quiz can be taken as many times as needed to pass.
