Welcome to
Biodiversity Counts is a middle-school science program created by the American Museum of
Natural History. It gets students out of the classroom and into the field to study biodiversity at a
site near their school. More about the project.
The American Museum of Natural History is more than a museum, it's a
leading scientific research institute.
More about scientific research.
Students participating in Biodiversity Counts will do the same work as Museum scientists:
- make scientific observations

- keep field journals
- identify and classify evidence
