| A view of the habitat where Dr. Aquino collects the catfish Hypoptopoma. |
In 1998, Adriana had the chance to go Manaus, the capital of Amazonas State in Brazil, and
as she looked out of the window of the plane, down at that incredible amalgam of green foliage and rivers, she was so moved that she silently promised herself that she would
continue to work on biodiversity projects no matter what it took. The experience for her was a spiritual one. From her modest position as a scientist, she is committed to sharing her thoughts about how amazing the planet we live on is, and how even more amazing it is that we are privileged spectators of life on this planet. Adriana believes that the opportunity to share her work with the learners on this project will give her the opportunity to keep that commitment.
