Museum scientist Margaret Carruthers in front of her computer. One of Margaret's responsibilities is to combine the underwater photographs of the sulfide chimneys into a mosaic image. This is a rather complex task since the structures have odd shapes and are imaged from various angles. During the first dive of Jason, the point of which was primarily to learn how to image the chimneys and accomplish the fine navigation, many still black-and-white, still color, and stereo color images of a single chimney were taken. The image on the screen is a mosaic of a portion of the S&M structure in the Main Endeavor Field.
