ALVIN being lifted onto the Atlantis at the end of the day. Many parts of the Atlantis have been specially built to house, launch, and recover the 36,000-pound submersible. The yellow object in the water attached to a line below the sub is the sea anchor. For a lot of interesting information about ALVIN, go to http://www.atlantis.whoi.edu/alvin.
