A view of ALVIN and Atlantis from the Avon motorboat that takes the two swimmers out to meet ALVIN when it resurfaces at the end of the day. At the end of a dive, the swimmers swim from the motorboat to the sub, make contact with the pilot, secure anything loose that might get lost during the rough ride in the surface waves, attach the sea anchor to stabilize the sub while it's being towed to the ship, and attach towlines to bring the sub to the end of the ship's fantail. This photo was taken about three-quarters of a kilometer from the ship.
