Mosaic of an active chimney in the southern cluster of the Main Endeavor Field. The mushroom-shaped parts are called flanges. Diffuse flow of hot water, creating a shimmering appearance in the colder water, often emanates from beneath these. The structure is covered in tube worms, palm worms, scale worms, limpets, and snails. At the top is Strawberry Fields, a clump of thriving tube worms with red branchial plumes. The whole chimney is about two meters wide and ten meters tall.
