It's hard to tell how big a sulfide structure is if you don't have a sense of scale. This is a digital image of the Dudley sulfide edifice in the Main Endeavor Hydrothermal Vent Field on the Endeavor Segment of the Juan de Fuca Ridge (47¡57' N, 129¡6' W). Dudley used to be pilot of the ALVIN. A 2-dimensional model of Dudley was made and dropped to the ocean floor to give scientists a sense of scale.
