Omigbade EscaygOmigbade Escayg
Community School District #10
Bronx, New York
Grades K-8

Omigbade is a New York City Educator. Born and raised in the Caribbean, he grew up in, on and around the warm tropical waters of Trinidad and Tobago. Omi, as he is affectionately called, began a career in marine research at the Institute of Marine Affairs in Trinidad. It was there he received a United Nations fellowship for Benthic Ecology and Polychaete Taxonomy. After migrating to New York he began teaching and designing environmental science programs for a number of educational institutions including the National Undersea Research Center at the University of Connecticut. In 1990, he was awarded a national scholarship for Marine Ecology and Technology from NOAA(National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration).

To date Omigbade has lectured and taught marine ecology courses and various science courses throughout the New York metropolitan area. His dream is to have his own school for the sciences and he is responsible for building a Marine Academy in the Bronx. Omi's love for the Oceans is not just an academic pursuit, but also a deep spiritual and emotional commitment that surfaces in his day-to-day life and in his music. Omigbade loves spending time exploring the beach with his 21-month-old daughter.
