Deadline and Contest Changes

Educators and Friends of the Young Naturalist Awards,

We’re moving the deadline for the Young Naturalist Awards Contest to May 1, 2006. The new deadline will allow your students to take advantage of extended time to collect more data from the field, deepen their background research, and spend more time polishing their essays. Here are some important changes that you should make note of:

• We will accept entries at any time, from now until May 1, 2006.
• Finalists will be announced on our web site in early August. The winners will be announced shortly after that.
• Prizes will be awarded to finalists and winners in early September.
• Winning essays will be published on our web site by September 30th.
• Due to the timing of these events, we will not be holding an award ceremony at the Museum for this year’s contest.
