Biodiversity Counts
Biodiversity Counts is a middle-school science program that gets students out of the classroom and into the field to study biodiversity at a site near their school. In Biodiversity Counts, students make scientific observations, record data and collect evidence, keep field journals, identify and classify evidence, analyze data, publish work for peer review, and make exhibitions of work for the general public. The Biodiversity Counts Web site provides students with a national forum to share data, respond to other students' questions and present findings and reports. The Web site includes a database for middle school students to post the data they collect in their immediate environment, and an online community in which teachers and students from all parts of the country come together to share scientific information on the biodiversity where they live.
