		A site is simply an ancient settlement or what's left of an ancient settlement. Sometimes we don't excavate every archaeological site we find, but we do surveys to record the locations of all the archaeological sites in a particular place. In the Valley of Oaxaca, where I work, we only excavated a few areas of the site because we want to leave evidence for future archaeologists to find.
