Jupiter Impact Makes Its Mark


Late last month, an amateur astronomer in Australia, Anthony Wesley, discovered a new impact "scar" on Jupiter left by a comet or asteroid. His image, below, shows the impact days after his initial discovery. Following his announcement, the Hubble Space Telescope aimed toward Jupiter to image the impact from space.
