Mineral Crystallography

Conventional and Micromineral Crystallography of Minerals

Crystallographic investigations, including crystal structure analysis, are a fundamental aspect of the research interests of Dr. Harlow who maintains a facility for single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Products from high pressure experimentation are routinely examined, and structures have and continue to be refined and determined. A joint project of Drs. Leger and Harlow involves examining chlorine-rich amphiboles from the Black Rock Forest.

Dr. Harlow carried out some preliminary studies on micromineral crystallography at the National Synchrotron Light source at Brookhaven National Laboratories with colleagues from the University of Chicago and Manchester University.
