by Barbara Mathé on
The American Museum of Natural History Research Library welcomes Vicky Steeves who has joined us for a nine month project as part of the National Digital Stewardship Residency in New York (NDSR-NY).
The program is an initiative from the Library of Congress, funded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services, with the goal to develop new professionals in digital stewardship through funded, post-graduate residencies. The Museum was selected as one of the five host institutions for the 2014-2015 set of residency projects along with Carnegie Hall, The Museum of Modern Art, New York Art Resources Consortium, and New York University Libraries.
Focusing on inventorying research datasets and digital assets across the Museum’s science departments, the project will address the critical need for digital storage to support the Museum’s important scientific research and will develop appraisal criteria, acquisition workflows, identify preservation challenges and forecast storage needs.
