One Step Beyond With the Martinez Brothers, Justin Strauss, and Stephen Silvestri

During this ongoing party series, guests can dance in the Museum’s Rose Center for Earth and Space. Guests can also enjoy the Hayden Big Bang Theater, located in the lower part of the Hayden Sphere, which features a dynamic multi-media presentation, narrated by acclaimed actor Liam Neeson, that takes visitors on a thrilling four-minute trip from Earth to the edge of the visible universe. Each ticket also includes one pass to the Museum for future use.

The Martinez Brothers

Raised in the Bronx, the Martinez Brothers (Steve and Chris) have been DJs throughout the world including Tokyo, Ukraine, Europe, and the United States. They have produced several releases from their earliest days at Objektivity, under the guidance of Dennis Ferrer, to collaborations with pioneers DJ Sneak and Point G (DJ Gregory). The year 2013 marked the beginning of their homespun NYC event series Mad Beats & Crazy Styles in conjunction with the events company ReSolute. The Martinez Brothers have also conceived a new record label, Cuttin’ Headz, which will be a home to their musical experimentations.

Justin Strauss was 17 when his first band was signed to Island Records. He began as a DJ at New York’s legendary Mudd Club, then The Ritz, Limelight, Area, Tunnel, M.K., Life, Centro Fly, and more. He has worked with artists such as Depeche Mode, Sergio Mendez, Tina Turner, Jimmy Cliff, B-52s, Luther Vandross, Malcolm McClaren, Skinny Puppy, Goldfrapp, and others, and on over 200 records.
Strauss also produces and mixes records as half of the production duo Whatever/Whatever—working on remixes for LCD Soundsystem, Beyonce, La Roux, and more.

Stephen Silvestri

Stephen Silvestri grew up in Long Island, N.Y. His love of dance music was born out of years of thrift store crate digging. Silvestri currently works at Iris Records in Jersey City and heads up their dance department.
