Shanghai's old districts are demolished in the name of regeneration. Displaced by bulldozers and wrecking balls, families find themselves in search of a new neighborhood. Every year, more than 100,000 inhabitants are forced to leave their homes and move to the edges of the city. Zhenchen Liu combines digitally re-mastered photographs with documentary video footage to investigate those affected by the endless demolition, calling into question the choice of vertical development over building community.
