In a Siberian village covered with snow and swept with icy winds, the young were called to war never to return, leaving behind only their gravestones. Old women dispassionately list the names of relatives who passed away while they sing the nine forgotten songs. Photographs show the surrounding landscape littered with burned-out huts that were once full of life. Weaving traditional songs and the prayers of mourners with images of the villagers set against their frozen backdrop, this filmic poem is an eerie portrait of a vanishing community and a reflection on tradition, memory, and oblivion.
