November 1997

Dr. Scott Borg from the National Science Foundation Polar Research Program journeyed to Antarctica with a team of colleagues and collected a 500 lb. ventifact on behalf of the Museum, while conducting their own research. A ventifact is a rock that has been intricately sculpted or eroded, by wind, showing the incredible power of wind blowing over an area for sustained periods of time.

A view of the landscape in Bull Pass. The sculpted rock is almost two meters high.
