Once the boulder is cut and polished, it is moved to the facility where it will be mounted for exhibition.

At one of the mount making facilities, a sling is used to help determine the boulder's best orientation for display in the Gottesman Hall of Planet Earth. A mount is then created to support the boulder in this orientation.

To make the mount as natural as possible, a wax cast is made of the bottom of each boulder. A steel mount is then created from a mold of the wax cast. The mount design allows the rocks to be supported and displayed at a variety of heights so that visitors can see each boulder to its best advantage.
