FEET

Geologists do a lot of hiking and climbing to reach the rocks they are studying or collecting. If the boulder they want is sitting on a slope, geologists often use their legs as levers to dislodge it, letting gravity take its course. Rough terrain and strenuous activities like those pictured here make sturdy boots a must.
