SAMPLE MARKER

Brightly colored ribbon, tape, or spray paint are sometimes used to mark a specimen for later collection. This enables geologists to mark special features and individual samples while they continue their hunt for other specimens. This also ensures that the correct sample will be removed and its source location accurately recorded.
